Census 2010 - Its In Your Hands
Update: As of April 30, 2010, the St. Petersburg Census 2010 Response Rate of 73% exceeded both National and State levels. The city's Maximo Moorings, Highland Oaks, Child's Park, and Campbell Park census tracks realized the greatest increase in response rates. On May 1st, census takers will begin visiting households.
Your Census questionnaire is important because it is used to:
- Allocate federal and state funding for programs important to the community;
- Determine where jobs and job programs are needed;
- Determine locations for stores, services and other essential services.
The answers collected by the Census Bureau are completely confidential.
By federal law, no court, agency or person is allowed access to an individual's information.

The Census: A Snapshot
- The Census is a count of everyone residing in the United States.
- All U.S. residents must be counted – both citizens and non citizens.
- You will receive your questionnaire in March in the U.S. mail.
- The U.S. Constitution requires a national census once every 10 years to count the population and determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives.
- Households should complete and mail back their questionnaires upon receipt.
